Mysterium
2000
Mysterium 2000 was held in
Spokane, WA on July 28 - 30. It was the first ever Mysterium, and
it was planned by four fans and six Cyantists. The planning committee
consisted of: Tina Buck, Mark DeForest, Michele Ehr, Tim Larkin,
Doug McBride, Steve Ogden, Suzanne Penner, Bill Slease, David Trescott,
and Richard A. Watson.
Friday evening (the first
night), the attendees enjoyed supper at Tomato Street, a local Italian
restaurant, after which some of them gathered until the wee hours of the
morning in the Continental Breakfast room in the Ramada Inn, the official
hotel of Mysterium 2000. The official hotel was changed at the last
minute from the Appletree, so it was at the Appletree Hotel that the marquis
read, "Shorah Mysterium Group".
Saturday the fans congregated
in the parking lot at Cyan and waited for the front doors to open.
Each person signed up for a colour coded "Guild" which designated
the order that person viewed the presentations given by Cyan. One
stop was a demonstration of the game "EDGE", a version of disc golf or
Frisbee golf, which is a favourite game of Cyantists. For this event,
Cyan sponsored a giveaway of EDGE frisbees to all attendees. Afterward,
Cyan provided lunch for all attendees free of charge. Tshirts
were made available for a small purchase price. Cyan's generosity
and friendliness were unparalleled. After lunch, the attendees
left Cyan Headquarters and went to play a game or three of laser tag.
An afternoon of laser tag left everyone hungry for supper, after which
some of the attendees reconvened at the hotel to socialise. Again,
the earliest hours of the morning saw them in the Continental Breakfast
Room.
Sunday was left open for
people to do as they pleased, and this was the day that people went on
sightseeing trips around Spokane on their own or in small groups.
This was the day most people said goodbye to their friends and wandered
back to the airports, bus stations, or began the long drives home to make
their excited sounds to friends and create new web sites about their trips.

Mysterium 2000 attendees' sites here.
